Morozov Sets Russian Points Record

With his 80th point this year, on an assist against Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the next-to-the-last game of the season, Alexei Morozov broke the single-season scoring record for the Russian Super League, previously held by Sergei Makarov ('80-'81, Central Army).

Morozov finished this season with 83 points (34 goals, 49 assists) in 53 games for Ak Bars Kazan, and was +31. The high mark in the top Russian league for goals in one season is 53, set in '62-'63 by Venyamin Aleksandrov.

The Russian Super League playoffs start tomorrow (Sunday, March 11th). Ak Bars, champions last season over Avangard, enters the playoffs as the top seed, after a 119-point regular season which included a huge 214-111 goal differential.

Avangard Omsk placed second in this year's standings, with Salavat Yulayev finshing third and Metallurg Magnitogorsk finishing in fourth.
